Our story
A passion for helping people, and a determination to build a business the right way
For Brendan and Lisa Gale, Speedy Spanners started with something simple — a passion for helping people.
Back in 2012 the pair began operating from a single mobile service van, working long hours, building relationships and earning a reputation for honest, reliable workmanship. Through hard work and genuine care for their customers, Speedy Spanners grew into the trusted local business it is today.
In 2017 they bought a historic garage in the beautiful town of Serpentine — a building deeply woven into the area's history. Built in 1934 by Harvey Hicks and known as "Hicks Garage", it once held the town's only telephone, "Serpentine 1". During wartime, locals gathered inside these very walls to hear the news.
Brendan and Lisa feel privileged to carry that legacy forward. The workshop has been lovingly renovated and expanded, and has grown from a mobile mechanic service into a thriving workshop and community hub where customers are treated like family.

Our much-loved on-site café is run by great friends Samy and Kini. Waiting for your vehicle, catching up with friends or just passing through? Expect great coffee, sweet treats, pies and a relaxed atmosphere.
Plenty of outdoor seating, friendly faces, and dogs are welcome. Next time you're in Serpentine, stop by and say hello.

Brendan and Lisa buy the historic garage, then renovate and expand it while keeping its country charm.
