Not sure who to trust when second-hand vehicle shopping? Our pre-purchase inspection helps make sure you aren't buying a vehicle whose repair bills will outweigh its value.
Despite the name, it's also a great idea before a long trip — we go over the vehicle in depth to spot anything that could cause you trouble on the road. The inspection is mostly visual, plus a full vehicle management scan.
Engine & exhaust
- Oil condition and visible leaks
- Engine mounts, belts, fans, switches & sensors
- Control unit scan and operational noises
- Manifolds, covers and sump (where visible)
- A/C compressor engagement and power steering operation
- Exhaust rattles and brackets
Cooling, fuel & electrical
- Coolant, radiator, hoses and pressure test
- Heater hoses, thermostat housing and welsh plugs
- Fuel pipes, filter, tank and mounts
- Battery, horn, starter motor
- Alternator and charge rate, visible wiring
Steering, brakes & tyres
- Steering and suspension components
- Tyre wear, rim condition and tyre life remaining
- Master cylinder, booster, fluid and hoses
- Handbrake, callipers, rotors and pads (if visible)
Transmission & interior
- Cooling lines, mounts, uni joints, CV boots
- Driveline leaks and 4x4 components
- Warning lights, gauges and driver controls
- A/C and heater controls, wipers, windows, locks and seat belts
